This year, the Chito-Ryu Bogu Cup Karate Championships will be held in the beautiful province of Quebec, Canada, from June 27th to June 30th 2019.

This tournament will be open to all participants ages 7 years old 10 months and up and it will include kata, team kata, kumite, and team kumite competitions.

All skill levels are welcome, from novice right up to world-class level participants. The 2019 Chito-Ryu Bogu Cup Karate Championships offer an opportunity you don't want to miss!

WORDS OF WELCOME

Welcome to all the instructors, referees, participants, parents and volunteers who will make the next Bogu Cup taking place from June 27 to 30, 2019 in Gatineau, Quebec, 20 minutes from Ottawa, a success and an unforgettable experience.

This tournament of the World Federation of Chito-Ryu Karate-do allows people who share the discipline, philosophy and values ​​of Chito-Ryu of O-Sensei Chitose to perpetuate by our great Master, Sensei Higashi a pledge of respect and loyalty. It is an opportunity to meet people from the Chito-Ryu family under the direction of Sensei Higashi and senior officers of our style (Kyoshi and Renshi) who work together to maintain the unity of all of us and to work to improve the style by maintaining the tradition and the foundations of this wonderful complete style in terms of effective techniques, warrior spirit, philosophy of this martial art.

The website is ready to take your reservations for the tournament that is friendly and family friendly. Accommodation reservations are also available, but more are coming.

The organization of the event is to complete some aspects, such as the activities to do during your visit, the meals on the site, the banquet, etc.

During this event, we will highlight the achievement of our great Master for his 10th Dan, Hanshi, but above all the man. A humble man who works tirelessly to add value to our style and is surrounded by high quality people.

The organization to innovate by creating a reduced rate for the 15 years and under for the first day of the tournament and each of our young participants who will not be ranked in the top 3 to receive a trophy will receive a medallion for their bravery and participation.

Rules and Regulations

This years World Chito-Ryu Bogu Championships will be following modified WKF rules

1) Safety Equipment :
In addition to WKF approved hand, shin, and groin protection, all athletes, regardless of division or age, will also be required to wear bogu armour.

2) Scoring :
All WKF regular scoring criteria will be applied, with the exception that all points awarded will be one (1) point (ippon),
and all matches will go to a maximum of three (3) points.

3) Elimination :
All matches, consisting of kata, team kata, kumite, and team kumite, will all be double elimination.

4) Kata :
All kata performed will be Chito-Ryu kata.

Volunteers

We are looking for several volunteers to assist during the weekend of the tournament.
Positions include:

1) Time keeper / Score keeper
2) Table attendants
3) First Aid
4) Ring setup / breakdown (before and after tournament)
5) Athlete Marshals
